One-Day French Culinary Basics

For many years, the French have set the standard for transforming food into an art form. The influence of French culinary art is seen and felt in every corner of the world. In fact, the classical cooking techniques of France are the foundation for virtually all Western cuisines and form the basis of most culinary educations. Marked by extreme diversity, French cuisine ranges from the warm, homey foods of the bistro to the elaborate preparations of the grand hotels of Paris. In this comprehensive workshop, develop a deeper understanding of quality ingredients while perfecting basic classical cooking techniques. From soufflés to crêpes, you’ll learn to prepare the best of France in just one day.

SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES Creating classical French dishes; mastering the art and science of the perfect soufflé; making a classical French sauce; preparing perfect crêpes; creating simple bistro dishes; stewing beef; making, kneading, proofing, shaping and baking baguettes; working with pie pastry; preparing one of the most beloved desserts of France.

Adult classes are designed for students 16 years of age or older. (Note: Students must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol.)
