Sushi Workshop with Ishii and Yoshi

Learn the art of sushi from Memphis' own, Jimmy Ishii, founder of the popular Sekisui Japanese restaurants and his Master Sushi Chef Yoshiyuki Takusagawa (Yoshi). In this hands-on class you will learn how to select ingredients for sushi, roll sushi and make sushi rice. Work side-by-side these masters and learn how easy and fun making your own sushi can be.

Executive Chef Yoshiyuki Takusagawa (Yoshi) is the Executive Sushi Chef for the Sekisui Group of restaurants. He lives in Memphis with his wife and two children. Yoshi cooked at the James Beard House Foundation in 2002 along side of Jimmy Ishii, with whom he has worked with for the past 6 years. Also in 2002 he partnered with Jimmy Ishii and opened Sekisui of Charlotte in Huntersville, NC. Yoshi has provided catering for the March of Dimes, Madonna Circle and Oscar Night America just to name a few.

Adult classes are designed for students 16 years of age or older. (Note: Students must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol.)
