Learn to make savory pot pies, quiches and fresh vegetable tarts in this workshop that takes pastries beyond dessert status. In addition to mastering the dying art of preparing perfect pie pastry, you will learn to make other styles of savory crusts to suit every application. Using the tips, tools and techniques learned in this wide-ranging workshop, you'll be able to prepare any savory pie or tart the imagination can conceive. SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES Making a tender biscuit crust; making and rolling out flaky butter pie crust; blind-baking a pie crust; making perfect quiche custard; making a cornmeal crust; working with avocadoes; learning tips for baking perfect tarts.
Adult classes are designed for students 16 years of age or older. (Note: Students must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol.) Alcohol is not served at our Anchorage location.
