Sweet and Sour Green Beans

  • 4 cans whole green beans, drained
  • 1 onion
  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
Brown bacon in skillet and reserve all the drippings. Mix drippings (should be about 1 cup) with brown sugar and vinegar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Continue boiling until the sugar is dissolved.

Drain green beans and place in 11 x 13 baking dish. Chop onion and sprinkle on top of beans. Crumble the cooked bacon and sprinkle on top of beans and onions. Pour the vinegar mixture over the beans, onions, and bacon. Cover with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Leaving beans covered, cook for 1 hour.
