Viking Appears in Residential Building Project of the Month

In the article, "Second Life," a deconstructed Victorian in the San Francisco Bay Area is carefully restored for modern living.

Developer/designer Lindsay Chambers' top-of-the-line restoration and modernization of a 2,000-sp.-ft. 1905 Queen Anne house was designed to appeal to that design-savvy client. "It's a refresh of a beautiful traditional home," said Chambers, who has worked on 20 such renovation projects with her company, Hazel.Wood.

Chambers brought a fresh twist to the traditional all-white kitchen, using oil-rubbed bronze hardware and fixtures for a more rustic feel. The color palette leans towards brown, rather than gray, for a warmer tone; the backsplash is filled in Ann Sacks Desert Field Mosaic, while the countertops are Caesarstone Logos Blue.
