Tempting Tapas

Tapas have been the rage in the culinary world for quite some time. While the trend of enjoying "small plates" and sharing them with your table at a restaurant is fun, these nibbles often have little to do with the small plates originating in Spain.

The menu starts with a delicious Chickpea Salad. Three savory small plates follow: Tiny Meatballs in Saffron Sauce, Garlic-Braised Chicken Wings and Shrimp with Romesco Sauce. For dessert, enjoy Oranges in Red Wine Syrup.

Recipes:

Sunny Couscous Salad
This salad gets its sunny flavor from a double dose of freshly squeezed orange juice. The orange juice and some spices make this a salad recipe you’ll turn to often.
Baked Shrimp with Romesco Sauce
What could be better for a tapas buffet than garlicky oven-baked shrimp with a luscious romesco sauce for dipping? The shrimp and the sauce are both so quick and easy; you’ll want to find ways to enjoy them individually.
Spanish-Inspired Chickpea Salad
Bean salads are popular summer cookout fare, and this Spanish-inspired Chickpea Salad is an alternative to the usual tangy, sweet bean salad.
Garlic-Braised Chicken Wings
Americans aren’t the only ones to enjoy chicken wings as an appetizer. Chicken wings appear on Chinese dim sum carts, and as tapas in Spain.
Oranges with Spiced Wine Syrup
Fruit is nature’s perfect dessert. But when you want to make a simple preparation of orange segments or poached pears extra special, this zippy Spiced Wine Syrup is a wonderful, make ahead sauce.
