Kathleen Field

Viking Range, LLC, the leader in residential kitchen technology, has named Kathleen Field as the 2019 First Quarter Designer of Distinction. Kathleen is the owner and principal designer at Lindsay Hill Interiors and is the first quarterly winner in the 2019 Viking Kitchen Design Competition. Designers from around the United States are vying for the coveted honor to become the 2019 Viking Designer of the Year.

Kathleen describes the project below:

This kitchen forms the heart of a modern organic mountain home set on a beautiful 28 acre lot of rolling hills overlooking a quiet mountain valley town. I knew the kitchen needed to feel clean, light-filled, and organic since that was the design mantra for the entire home. Soft white cabinets with black granite countertops set off the gorgeous white oak island where the drawer microwave is nestled. A tall refrigerator panel and tall dish cabinet both clad in white oak frame the window and kitchen sink wall. The Viking range in white is an important part of this kitchen design, as it anchors the range wall with its quietly beautiful and organic lines.

More about Kathleen and Lindsay Hill Interiors:

I love homes, pure and simple. In fact, one of my favorite things to do while on vacation just about anywhere is to look at home. I love making my own home comfortable and beautiful, and I love helping others do the same with their homes. It’s just so rewarding to see a house come together into a beautiful home.

I am largely a self-taught designer – I developed my design eye and my design skills through many design classes, through experimenting on my own homes, and through designing for neighbors, friends, and clients. My husband and I have bought, lived in, decorated, built from scratch, or renovated 13 homes of our own. I have done everything from building new homes from scratch and working with architects and engineers on the design, to completely renovating a 180 year old farmhouse! I have also consulted on commercial and retail projects. I consider my personal design style to be clean, pretty, and stylish, with lots of pops of fresh color against a simple neutral background. My own home reflects that style. However, I know that clients goals and styles may be different. I always try to help them define and achieve their own style goals for their homes. My goal as a designer will always be to help clients achieve a lovely and comfortable home that meets their needs, makes them feel happy to be at home, and fits into their budget. I always try to design a home that reflects their personal style and is an extension of one’s personality. I consider myself to be a very down-to-earth designer. It is very important to me that clients love their home when the project is complete. And I work very hard to achieve that goal while adhering to a sensible budget!

I offer in-home design services to clients in Utah, including Wasatch County (Heber City, Midway, Kamas), Summit County (Park City and surrounding areas), the Provo/Orem area, and Salt Lake and surrounding areas. I also provide E-Design services to those living outside Utah.
