Alina Druga

Viking Range, LLC, the leader in residential kitchen technology, has named Alina Druga as the 2018 Second Quarter Designer of Distinction. Alina is the owner and interior designer at Alina Druga Interiors in the San Francisco Bay Area and is the second quarterly winner in the 2018 Viking Kitchen Design Competition. Designers from around the United States are vying for the coveted honor to become the 2018 Viking Designer of the Year.

Alina describes the project below:

When I first saw their existing kitchen it was small, the layout was poor and the storage was not enough. I proposed to my clients to relocate the kitchen into their existing family room, and relocate the existing family room right in front of their large fireplace which they loved but did not know how to utilize. In order to create this new open concept space, we took down the wall behind the kitchen to open the space into the dining room.

My clients loved the farmhouse style, so I was excited to implement that style into the new design. The concept behind the new kitchen was to create a better functioning kitchen for my clients. Their growing family would need more room for storage, cooking and entertaining, and this new layout will allow them to do just that.

When it came to finishes and appliances, everything was chosen very carefully, keeping in mind the clients' needs and budget, as well as the overall look. We wanted to create a kitchen that will stand the test of time stylistically and functionally. We selected white cabinets on the perimeter of the kitchen and a grey island for contrast. The beautiful Calcutta marble countertops contrast the textured white subway tile while picking on the color of the island. The wood elements in the kitchen give the space a warm feel while the stainless steel Viking appliances bring a modern touch to the space. This was a perfect blend of materials to make this kitchen warm, inviting and timeless.

More about Alina Druga and Alina Druga Interiors:

I've always had an appreciation for architecture and design, but it wasn't until 2007 that I had the opportunity to follow my dreams and do what I love. With background studies in Geography and Environmental Studies, I began my journey in the design industry as a Certified CAD Drafter, and in 2009 I went back to school for my degree in Interior Design. With a lifelong fascination for creating better living spaces and a passion for helping people I established "Alina Druga Interiors" in 2011 serving the San Francisco Bay Area.

My philosophy is "designing with you in mind". I believe that paying close attention to the client's requests is key in creating a successful design. As a mother of two young children I understand first-hand how important it is for a home to reflect the personality and needs of the entire family. With every new project, I begin by listening to the client, observing them and their environment, and then envisioning how I can improve their lifestyle through my design. I always start with function and finish with aspects of the client's personality.

I love to create interiors that feel comfortable, warm yet sophisticated; interiors that will stand the test of time stylistically and functionally. Though my designs are typically contemporary, I am capable and comfortable of working in a variety of styles, guided by my client's individual tastes and needs.

Designing is what I love to do most, and helping people bring their dreams to reality is a joy! https://www.alinadrugainteriors.com/
