The July 2016 winning kitchen design is located in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago and is a brick bungalow designed for a couple with two children. Rebekah transformed the cramped space by removing a huge volume in the middle of the kitchen that housed the fridge, walk-pantry and hvac return vent.
“By stealing space from the front dining room and relocation the doorways to the front of the house, we created a spacious kitchen and family room with ample counter space, said Rebekah Zaveloff, “ We added a large island and designed in all Viking appliances including a 48” Viking range, 36” Viking refrigerator and 48” Viking hood. We added brass accents to the standard Viking hood in order to tie in the brass hardware and lighting.”
Custom brass plated icebox hinges on the pantry and a recessed tin tile ceiling add layers to the rich green/blue/gray cabinets with stained oak interiors. White princess quartzite countertops, and mix of Waterworks® backsplash tile goes to the ceiling. Kallista® faucets and Modernica® counter stools.
