On March 25th, Viking sponsored its annual half marathon, 5K and 10K organized by the Greenwood-Leflore County Chamber of Commerce.

The event is always a success, with 68 people registering for the 5K, 41 for the 10K, and 73 for the half-marathon. Folks come from all over Mississippi as well as the country. This year’s runners came from Texas, New York, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama.

Beth Stevens, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, told The Greenwood Commonwealth that “we had a last-minute surge in registration, so that was wonderful. I think people always wait to see what the weather will do, and it was perfect. The event was another big success, and we’ve gotten so much positive feedback. Everyone really loves participating in this run.”
