Bread Basics

Baking is a science and an art form. If you love to bake breads or have always wanted to learn, we'll teach you all the skills you need to master freshly baked goods and the science that underlies the craft of baking. Discover the secrets to making yeasty loaves and rolls, melt-in-your mouth muffins, and fluffy, feather-light biscuits. Create a little lovin' from the oven - then pass your knowledge down to future generations so that they too can experience the joy of baking.

 

SKILLS AND TECHNIQUES Measuring baking ingredients; working with yeast and other leavening agents; mixing, kneading, proofing, shaping and baking dough; shaping and slashing baguettes; testing baked goods for doneness; learning creaming/muffin method; making a glaze; cutting fat into flour (biscuit method).



Adult classes are designed for students 16 years of age or older. (Note: Students must be 21 years of age to consume alcohol.)

Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry, seafood, shellfish or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially if you have certain medical conditions.
