East-West Dinner Party

This East-West Dinner Party menu creates a harmonious blending of the culinary cultures of the Far East with ingredients and cooking methods common to the West. The menu starts with a Japanese steakhouse-style salad that's tossed with a Creamy Ginger Dressing and topped with Tempura Shrimp.

Grilled or roasted halibut is drizzled with a Thai-inspired red curry sauce and placed atop a bed of Jasmine Shrimp Fried Rice for a tasty main plate. A quick side of Sautéed Sugar Snap Peas and Asparagus adds color and crunch to the plate. And dessert is a not-too-sweet Banana-Coconut Custard.

This salad is delicious served as part of our Vietnamese Soup and Sandwich Supper, or it can be served alone in the summer as a delicious lunch salad or light supper.
Banana-Coconut Custard
It is often difficult to come up with an appropriate dessert for an Asian-inspired meal, but look no further than this not-too-sweet Banana-Coconut Custard.
Halibut with Red Curry Sauce
Canned coconut milk, Thai curry paste and Asian fish sauce are easy to find and combine to make a luscious sauce for this grilled or roasted halibut.
Jasmine Shrimp Fried Rice
Thai fried rice is an epiphany of flavors. Especially for those who grew up eating fried rice from a corner Chinese takeout restaurant. The subtle saltiness of fish sauce, the crisp flavors of fresh herbs and the slight bite of hot pepper make the dish sublime.
